Have you ever watched a painter like Bob Ross and thought, “Why would he add that color there?” Sometimes it feels like we could paint the picture better ourselves. But the truth is—it’s His canvas, not ours.
In life, we often question God the same way. But what if God’s plan, even when we don’t understand it, is exactly what we need?
1. God’s Word Doesn’t Fail
"It is not as though God’s word had failed." – Romans 9:6
God made promises from the beginning—promises of hope, redemption, and love. In Romans 9, the apostle Paul shares his deep sorrow that many people were missing out on that hope. But he reminds us: God hasn’t failed. His Word is trustworthy. His promises still stand. And they are for you.
Maybe you didn’t grow up in church or feel like you’ve missed your chance. Paul makes it clear: salvation isn’t inherited. “It is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children” (Romans 9:8). Everyone must make a personal decision to follow Jesus.
2. God’s Purposes Don’t Fail
"Not by works but by Him who calls." – Romans 9:12
God isn’t reacting to life’s chaos—He’s writing a story with purpose. Even when we can’t make sense of it, God is in control. Paul uses examples like Jacob and Esau to show that God’s plan is intentional—not based on our performance, but His mercy.
You may wonder, “Is God unfair?” Paul asks the same in verse 14 and answers boldly: “Not at all!” God is full of mercy and compassion. He sees your heart. He knows your pain. And He invites you to trust Him.
3. God’s Glory Remains
"Even us, whom He also called… not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles." – Romans 9:24
Here’s the beautiful truth: God calls people from every background, no matter their past. That means you’re not too far gone. You’re not disqualified. God wants you to know Him—to be called His child.
So What Now?
If you’re wondering whether you’re “chosen,” the answer is simple: respond to Jesus. Embrace Him as your Savior. That’s how you know. His love is specific, intentional, and available right now.
It’s His canvas, not ours. But in His hands, your life can become a masterpiece.
